Ingredients
For the Burgers:
1 ½ pounds ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter (optional, for added richness)
For Toppings & Assembly:
4 burger buns (brioche or sesame seed buns work great)
4 slices cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
Lettuce leaves
Sliced tomatoes
Sliced red onions
Pickles
Ketchup, mustard, mayo, or your favorite sauces
Instructions
Prepare the Burger Patties:
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently until just combined (avoid overmixing to keep the burgers tender).
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.
Cook the Burgers:
Preheat your grill, skillet, or griddle to medium-high heat.
Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness (adjust time for your preferred level of doneness).
During the last minute of cooking, add a slice of cheese to each patty and let it melt.
Toast the Buns:
Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a skillet for 1-2 minutes until golden.
Assemble the Burgers:
Spread your favorite sauces on the bottom bun. Add the cooked patty, then layer with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and any other toppings you love.
Top with the other half of the bun and press gently.
Serve:
Serve immediately with a side of fries, coleslaw, or your favorite BBQ sides.
