Ingredients

Scale

For the Burgers:

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for added richness)

For Toppings & Assembly:

  • 4 burger buns (brioche or sesame seed buns work great)

  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)

  • Lettuce leaves

  • Sliced tomatoes

  • Sliced red onions

  • Pickles

  • Ketchup, mustard, mayo, or your favorite sauces

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Burger Patties:

    • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently until just combined (avoid overmixing to keep the burgers tender).

    • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

  2. Cook the Burgers:

    • Preheat your grill, skillet, or griddle to medium-high heat.

    • Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness (adjust time for your preferred level of doneness).

    • During the last minute of cooking, add a slice of cheese to each patty and let it melt.

  3. Toast the Buns:

    • Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a skillet for 1-2 minutes until golden.

  4. Assemble the Burgers:

    • Spread your favorite sauces on the bottom bun. Add the cooked patty, then layer with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and any other toppings you love.

    • Top with the other half of the bun and press gently.

  5. Serve:

    • Serve immediately with a side of fries, coleslaw, or your favorite BBQ sides.
