- 2 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons active yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour

- 2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- ½ stick of butter, melted
- 2 cups shredded cheese (such as Colby Jack and mozzarella)
- Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, warm water, and active yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- Make the Dough:
- Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a sticky dough forms. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Baking Dish:
- Grease a deep dish baking sheet (9×13 inches) with oil.
- Shape the Dough:
- Once risen, punch down the dough and transfer it to the prepared baking dish. Spread it out evenly to cover the entire surface.
- Add Flavor:
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter with garlic salt and garlic powder. Spread this mixture over the top of the dough. Use your fingertips to create dimples in the dough to allow for better flavor absorption.
- Second Rise:
- Cover the dough again and let it rise for another 30 minutes while preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Add Cheese:
- After the second rise, sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the top of the dough.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes. Then switch to broil until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
